How To Add a Contract-wide Extension

Abstract

Add Contract-wide Extension puts the same extra service window on every enabled reservation that can accept it. Use this when the whole contract gets the same free (or extra) period — not when you are swapping stores.

Not the same as Adjust Contract Reservations

Adjust Contract Reservations can attach at most one contract extension and one Continuation extension per new Placement. This action hits all eligible existing reservations with one window.

Help text on the dialog: The period that we are giving our client for free.

Before You Start

  • Save the contract first. On a new or unsaved form: Save the contract before adding a contract-wide extension.
  • Draft contracts: always available under Manage (when Manage is shown).
  • Submitted contracts: hidden if status is On Hold, Completed, Cancelled, or Closed. Otherwise you may see Cannot add a contract-wide extension when the contract is {status}.
  • If the contract is locked by another save: This contract is locked… Wait for it to complete, then try again.

Instructions

Tip

Keep track of your place below by clicking on the gray checkmarks.

  • Open the Dividers Contract.
  • Click Manage → Add Contract-wide Extension.
  • Fill out the dialog as described below.
  • Wait until the conflicts table finishes loading. The primary button stays disabled until the table loads.
  • Review Reservations listed below cannot accept this extension… Those rows will not be changed. Skipped reservations are not a failure of the whole run.
  • Click Set Extension On Active Reservations.

    Help

A progress dialog Setting Contract-wide Extension shows {n} of {total} · {reservation} · {store} · {banner #number}, elapsed time, and ETA. Other users viewing the same contract also see progress.

  • On success: Set extension on {applied} reservation(s); skipped {skipped}. The contract reloads.

If every reservation is skipped, nothing is written.

If any applied reservation throws, the whole apply batch is rolled back (skipped rows were never written). Progress shows Failed.

Type
Select a Dividers Reservation Type. Default Extension. Required.
Extension Length
Required.
Extension Period
The period that we are giving our client for free.
Start Cycle / Start Date
Required (whichever matches the contract period type). Defaults to the period after the adjusted end of the first enabled original reservation.
End Cycle / End Date

Issue Period (optional)

The period that we were unable to service our client. Not an ERPNext Issue document.

If you set an issue start, issue end is required.

Notes
Optional.
Conflicts table
Reservation (link), Start, Length, End, Reason.

Changing length or start recomputes the end and re-fetches conflicts (a spinner in the table).

Who Is Changed, Who Is Skipped

Targeted: every enabled contract reservation that has a linked Dividers Reservation.

Skipped (listed in conflicts, not changed):

  • Proposed window overlaps an existing contract extension or Continuation extension (Overlaps existing extension).
  • The window is not within or contiguous with the reservation period (the reason shown is the validation message).

A contract extension is added on each applied Dividers Reservation, then that reservation is saved.
