How-To Guides

How-To Guides are recipes to help you work in ERPNext. They will guide you through the steps you need to take in order to handle day-to-day tasks correctly.

Breakdown

How-To Guides are broken into three sections:

General

Contains recipes for basic tasks that are not related to managing Dividers, such as finding your way around ERPNext and entering Customers.

Dividers

Contains recipes for completing tasks related to manging Dividers, such as entering Dividers Stores and printing Dividers.

Management

Contains processes for helping managers nagivate their ERPNext tasks.

Anatomy of a How-To Guide

How-To Guides are generally broken down into three sections:

Top Section

Here you will see general but information regarding the Document or action you are looking at.

Instructions

This section contains the directions for completing the action.

Form

This section contains the fields of the form(s) you need to fill out while following the Instructions, as well as descriptions and important information required to fill out the form correctly.

Miscellaneous

"Admonitions"

Most How-To Guides also make use of "Admonitions" - small, colored text blocks intended to relay useful information to you without distracting you from the instructions. Here is an example:

Guide Tabs

Most How-To Guides include "Instructional Guide" and "Visual Guide" tabs.

Instructional Guide (Default)

The Instructional Guide contains all of the information and notes required to complete the form. It is always useful to read through the Instructional Guide the first time through a form, because it contains important information that you won't see when viewing the Visual Guide.

Visual Guide

Clicking on the Visual Guide will give you an image that is intended to be a quick reminder of how to complete sections of forms. You are expected to understand the form already before using the Visual Guide.
